REVITILIZATION PROJECT

Beth Itzchok is a community Shul. Our strong historical tie to the Chicagoland Jewish Community, our  welcoming  and warm atmosphere, and our dynamic articulate, and insightful spiritual leader, Rabbi Shlomo Crandall, bring a flavor to the community that is ideal for young and old alike.  With the first portion of our revitalization project complete, we boast a beautifully hand-crafted Mechitzah with a special one-way mirror, which allows for the women to have a clear unobstructed view of the Shul, while producing a sharp, clean look and feel in the Bais Medresh.

Work Remaining
Although we have come far, we still have much to accomplish!

- Children's Room: Bais Yitzchok has a functional children’s room in front of the Bais Medresh where we hold programs each Shabbos. But we have plans to build a larger more conveniently located Children's Room to the west (through the back wall) of the existing social hall (See above artist's rendering).

- Aron Kodesh: We seek to build a new Aron Kodesh replacing the Paroches that is currently there.  This will beautify the Bais Medresh and add a classic element back to the Shul.

 - Library: We have plans to install built-in bookshelves along the west and north walls of the Bais Medresh to display our library including many new as well as beautiful, hard to find Seforim.

ALL PLEDGES CAN BE PAID OVER 12 EQUAL MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS    PLEDGES OVER $10,000.00 CAN BE PAID OVER 36 EQUAL MONTHLY INSTALLMENTS.

DEDICATED TO CHICAGO FOR 94 YEARS

HISTORY OF GROWTH AND RENOVATION AT BAIS YITZCHOK

Congregation Beth Itzchok was established in 1917 in Albany Park, and moved to its  famous  Drake Ave  location in  1922.  In 1927 the Congregation embarked on a major renovation, removing the North and South walls and adding two large wings to the building.  The Shul housed a Beth Medresh and Talmud Torah in the basement.  In 1943 a church across the street was purchased to be the Social Center of the Congregation.  In 1963 the era of the Center was over, as the changing neighborhood necessitated its sale.  Rosh HaShanah of 1969   initiated    the   beginning  of   the West Rogers Park site.   In 1988 the Shul expanded again by adding on what is now  the  Social  Hall,  in  a  vacant  lot  adjacent  to  the  Shul. Congregation Beth Itzchok is currently in the process of another beautification project to revitalize the Shul and create a modern look and comfortable feel.  The Shul has been a staple of the Chicago Jewish Community for nearly 100 years – and we are reaching out to the community to ensure that it continues to be a place of Dovening, Torah Learning, and Community Service for many years to come.
